THE UDO-OBONG ATHLETICS ACADEMY

Established by Nigeria’s most successful Olympian and only MALE two-time Olympic medalist, the UAA focuses on sports development, talent identification, education and training.

Mission

To educate, support, guide and develop role models to attain elite athletic status, while developing the sport of athletics through academic and physical training, leading to the promotion of unity and cooperation.

Objectives

The UAA aims to convey values of sports training such as courage, discipline, respect and a fighting spirit combined with academic excellence, to develop our youths into great champions and role models.

Identify and harness potential talent to represent Nigeria in African and world championships.

Train and develop youths in the rules and standard techniques of the sport.

Organize regular holiday camps to expose talented youths to rules and standards of the sport of athletics

Prepare school pupils for international school games

Use the sport of athletics as a source of rehabilitation for internally displaced persons and victims of war (especially women), by organizing sporting events they can participate in and discovering hidden talents.

Set up an academic and educational institute to contribute to all round training of youths, ensuring that they reach their full sports potential.

AAU Full-Time Academy

20,000/month

  • A fully equipped educational and athletics training institute where full academic studies and professional training for senior secondary students take place. Students who dream of participating in international athletics competitions are welcome to enrol. The UAA ensures all round training for budding athletes .

AAU School Sports Day

10,000/month

  • UAA offers secondary schools a capacity building program leading to the school’s Sports Day in which teachers/instructors are educated in full international rules and regulations of athletics, and pupils are properly trained to reach their full sporting potentials .

AAU Weekend Program

5000/week

  • Organized to occupy and train youths during weekends or short holidays. Students preparing for school sports days or other competitions can also take advantage of this program to ensure optimal performance .

AAU Holiday Camps

10,000/month

  • A week long camp during which the promotion of friendship and unity via the sports takes place. Activities include breakfast/training sessions with Olympic gold medallists, intensive training in international athletics rules and regulations, visits to sporting monuments, participation in competitions, watching international competitions live, and interactive motivational talks with top athletes, etc .

Scholarships

The UAA exposes talented students to athletics/academic scholarships via its strategic partnership with the Atlanta 1996 Olympic Training Centre, Georgia. Students have a chance to use their athletic talents to further their college education in Atlanta, USA.
